Variety of seat cushions

If the standard seat is not sufficient there is a variety of different seatcushions to choose from.

Softer or firmer seats
We have softer seats for body weight < 70 kg, 70-90 kg and > 90 kg. There are also specially built seats for people who are very thin. In order to achieve a softer seat and maintaining the endurance of the seat we use latex in R1 quality. For the 57 cm wide chairs we offer firmer seats.

Antidecubitus seats (pressure relief)
To prevent pressure soars slowfoam seats are available. If there is high risk of pressure soars or when pressure soars already occur it is important to use another seat. Asside from the APPR system we offer seats with Intelli-Gel.

Seat with Intelli-Gel
Intelli-Gel has a soft elastomer, honeycomb structure that contours gently to large surface areas distributing weight evenly. Intelli-Gel is engineered using a technique called column buckling which means that each column can support a certain amount of weight until it buckles redistributing the pressure to surrounding colums. The pressure hotspots get a reduction in pressure which gives the low pressure areas the additional support they need. Intelli-Gel will adjust to each individual's needs regardless of weight or body shape.

External research at The Rehabilitation Engineering and Applied Research Lab (REAR) at Georgia Tech University indicated that the Intelli-Gel cushion provided significant pressure redistribution. Further external research was underatken by the tissue Viability Consultancy Service Ltd (2009) to ascertain the clinical efficacy of the Intelli-Gel cushion. All the participating subjetcs's skin showed significant improvement by day 14 of the trial. this trial indicates that the inclusion of an Intelli-Gel cushion can have signicant impact on not only preventing but assisting in the healing of established pressure damage for extremely vulnerable people. Furthermore, the use of the Intelli-Gel cushion enabled all of the subjetcts to sit more comfortably, with an upright and symmetrical posture, for longer.

If a seat with Intelli-Gel is chosen for the Fitform Care Chair the upholstery must be Uniform or Sarkotex.
